A good start to the year in both new and used sectors, but went a little off track as new plate deliveries got delayed and in some cases the part exchanges not finding their way into dealerships altered the used stock volumes.
At the end of the first quarter the latest MCIA new registration numbers were up 4.7% at 15,208 for the month and the year-to-date 24,609 sold in 2018 is an increase of 5.6% over 2017.
After the many mentions of Euro 3/4 over the past few years, time moves on and the state of the market should become clearer. The view taken in the Green Book current used values has been different as the short term values have been affected in some form. But long term the view has always been that over a period of several years the short term changes will be watered down and have little effect. After the initial jump in used prices at the start of the “season” in a rush to get stock after the low point over winter, prices have remained fairly stable over the last research period and consequently there has been little change in reported future values except where new prices have changed.
