cap hpi will contribute to this year’s Leeds Digital Festival with a tech talk aimed at inspiring the developer community.

The announcement from cap hpi comes as Leeds Digital Festival continues to highlight the region’s booming digital sector.

The tech talk event entitled ‘Eating an Elephant’ takes place on Thursday 26 April and covers the increasing use of microservices and microapps to support multiple technologies such as .net core and Java, SQL Server, DB2 and ElasticSearch – to deliver a powerful, flexible platform on which products could be delivered more quickly.

Speakers include specialists from cap hpi’s development team, Will Porter, product development director; Adrian Thomas, development team leader, and Chris Taylor, senior software consultant.

cap hpi has operated in Leeds for over 30 years and has grown to become the leading supplier of vehicle valuation and provenance data in the UK. It recently launched a global expansion programme that will see Leeds become an international data and digital hub.

The company has grown quickly and recruited over 90 people between July 2016 and Jan 2017. It now employees over 320 staff.

The company has thrived in Leeds by adapting to the increasing volumes of data and advances in the complexity of the automotive industry. It began with sourcing and sharing new vehicle data before becoming synonymous with used vehicle pricing. Initially used values were delivered in a printed ‘Black Book’, today they are served in real-time by apps, APIs and the web.

Leeds has remained home to the business as it joined forces with vehicle provenance experts, HPI, to become cap hpi. The city is now the global hub of a business that works with manufacturers, finance companies, retailers and technology innovators around the World.

The company has a team of data scientists, product designers and developers to provide solutions to the global automotive industry. It argues a key factor in choosing Leeds is the availability of data and digital skills in the city and surrounding region.

Will Porter, product development director at cap hpi said: “We are delighted to support Leeds Digital Festival with a topical event aimed at talented digital developers in the region. Leeds has a rich digital talent pool so we intend to showcase some of our innovative products and services so that attendees can really get an insight into what we do.”
