Vehicle data expert cap hpi has cited a better than average performance from diesel vehicles for this time of year for the past three months in a row (July – September) with motorists favouring diesel vehicles (50.9%) over petrol during September 2017 based on sales volumes.
In its latest Black Book data, cap hpi reports that based on a 6 months and 5k mileage, cap hpi data reveals that diesel values have remained steady. There’s been an increase of 0.2% on a one year old diesel with 10k mileage, a 0.3% increase for a three year old diesel with 60k mileage and up 0.1% for a five year, 80k model.

Commenting on the data James Dower, senior editor of Black Book, the biggest valuation guide in the UK said: “Our insight is painting a more positive image than some reports would have you believe. September’s used sales volumes clearly show that motorists favoured diesel over petrol fuel type vehicles.
“For the good of the automotive sector, it’s time for composure, to bring an end to the scaremongering and look at the actual facts. Virtually across the board diesels have posted a stronger than average performance on values over the past three months combined with the fact that the overall diesel share of the sales market is higher this year than it was last year, by almost 2% in April and Sept.”
